How tall is a million?   (back to home)
http://architecture.about.com/od/skyscrapers/ig/World-s-Tallest-Buildings/Sears-Tower-.htm

Students calculated that if a ream of drawing paper is 4 inches tall, then one million sheets of paper would be 8000 inches tall.  They then calculated that 8000 inches is 666 feet. If an average story in a building is 10 feet high that would be a 66 story building.

They then calculated that we would need 1000 of those buildings to represent a BILLION sheets of paper.

And!  There are 6.6 billion people on the planet!  Wow!
