Garfield Garfield

A Note from the Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Garfield is a community school, your community school. We will continue to ask for your input and support in the direction we take in meeting the education needs of the children in this community. A child’s success in school is highly dependent upon the relationship that exists between parents and teachers. Communication is essential in that relationship. We invite you to become involved in the school. Join us for an evening activity, a classroom trip or celebration, or stop by on the first Friday of each month for the N.E.T. parent meeting. Children whose parents take an active role in their education are more successful in school.

The Garfield Staff is committed to a safe and civil educational environment for all students, free from harassment, intimidation or bullying. In an effort to reinforce and educate our students about a positive school climate we are a Character Counts School. You can be assured we will be responsive to your ideas and concerns, and we will work together in the best interests of your child. We have a dedicated, highly skilled staff that is committed to offering an engaging, rigorous and equitable education to all students.

This year we will continue our study skills program to help students organize their work and carry important information home to families. All students in grades 3-6 will carry a Grizzly Binder that will contain all paperwork and a calendar. Students in grades k-2 will carry a Grizzly Folder. I hope you will look for this important communication tool.

We at Garfield thank you for your continued support. Please feel free to call me (354-2755) or come to school any time. We are looking forward to another wonderful school year with your children.

Sincerely,

Karen Cloninger
Principal
