Extra-curricular activities are also among the offerings at Balboa.
- Intramural sports may include volleyball, basketball, soccer, flag football, Bloomsday training and jumprope.
- Student clubs may include Math is Cool, ASB, and Safety Patrol.
- Music opportunities include chorus and band and strings instruction for 5th and 6th grade students.
There are many other notable events and programs at Balboa.
- The Volunteer Literacy program is an opportunity for parents and community to be paired with students to help build literacy skills.
- Character Counts is a school-wide program aimed at building pillars of character within students, including respect, responsibility, caring, trustworthiness, fairness, and citizenship.
- Fundraising and family events include a school carnival, Bingo Night, Book Fair and Santa Breakfast. PTG facilitates most fundraisers.
